Valyrie joined CRE in 1990. During her tenure here, she has served in a variety of both program and operational capacities, including co-director, deputy director and chief financial officer. In July 2014, Valyrie became a senior fellow, a position that allows her to bring her extensive experience to bear while working directly with a variety of clients. Valyrie’s consulting work focuses on strategic planning, board development, and organizational alignment for nonprofits of all sizes. She is also one of CRE’s executive coaches and team facilitators. Early in her career, Valyrie was a volunteer, trainer, and national coordinator for the Peace Corps in Senegal. She also worked as an economist with CARE, Inc. and the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. She holds an M.B.A. from Yale University and a B.A. in international studies and economics from American University. Valyrie serves on the vestry and as a warden for St. George’s Episcopal Church, Maplewood, New Jersey. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to board development and often blogs about issues facing nonprofit boards.
