Valyrie Laedlein serves as CRE’s Co-Director, having come to Community Resource Exchange in 1990 and serving in both program and operational capacities for CRE during the last 20 years, including Deputy Director and CFO. Since joining CRE, Valyrie’s consulting work has focused on all forms of organizational and strategic planning for both large and small nonprofits, Board development, and leading and managing change. As CRE’s Deputy Director, she instituted a variety of internal systems to support fiscal management, client management, and program evaluation, and has overseen CRE’s financial management and research and evaluation functions. Valyrie also designed and led CRE’s first Leadership Caucus for Board Chairs, a multi-session cohort-learning program to develop the skills and leadership abilities of nonprofit board chairs.
Valyrie is a graduate of the School of International Studies at American University and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the School of Organization and Management at Yale University. She has worked in the field of international development, having served as a Volunteer, then Trainer and National Coordinator, for the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa, and later with CARE, Inc., on a project designed to convert developing countries’ debt to equity. Valyrie also worked as an economist for the U.S. Department of Labor/Bureau of Labor Statistics.
