Valyrie K. Laedlein
Valyrie Laedlein, Co-Director, joined CRE in 1990. During her tenure with our organization, she has served in both program and operational capacities, including Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer. Valyrie’s consulting work focuses on organizational and strategic planning for nonprofits of all sizes; board development; and organizational alignment. She designed CRE’s Leadership Caucus for Board Chairs, a multi-session, cohort-learning program to enhance the leadership abilities of nonprofit board chairs.
Val’s early career was in international development. She was a volunteer and then a trainer and national coordinator for the Peace Corps in Senegal. She also worked with CARE, Inc., on a project designed to convert developing countries’ debt to equity, and as an economist with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.
She holds an M.P.P.A.A. from Yale University’s School of Organization and Management and a B.A. in International Studies and Economics from American University. Valyrie has also been certified as a coach by the Clark-Wilson Performance Program for 360° Feedback and has also received training from the Coaches Training Institute.
Valyrie is a member of the Board of Directors for the Human Services Council and a Warden and Vestry member for St. George’s Episcopal Church in Maplewood, New Jersey.
She frequently speaks on topics related to board development and blogs about issues and challenges facing nonprofit boards.
