Overview

CRE's Community & Sector Initiatives (CSI) explores and pursues efforts that impact entire communities and/or issues. As CRE’s Consulting and Training Practice is about “one-to-one” work, CSI is about “one-to-many” efforts. CSI is a fundamental part of CRE's mission to strengthen New York's communities.

CSI's main goals are:

  • To encourage dialogue on, and bring attention to, community and citywide issues of poverty, HIV/AIDS, and social injustice;
  • To identify and direct resources to poor and affected communities; and
  • To elevate the quality of work and level of accountability within the nonprofit sector.

CSI, in short, is CRE's proactive agenda to encourage, support, and advance the work of communities and community groups throughout the City. The aim is to have a larger impact beyond what CRE could accomplish by working with one organization at a time.

CSI achieves this by leveraging resources and sharing knowledge, strategies, and solutions.

"Some can do consulting and sort of be there on the side, not completely engaged. With CRE – it’s not just someone doing a job."
