Community Resource Exchange is proud to announce that our Executive Director, Fran Barrett, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alliance for Nonprofit Management. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has made “exceptional contributions, of at least 25 years, to the field of non-profit capacity building.”
Fran has done just that; founding CRE in 1979 to provide the leadership of community based organizations in New York City access to training, resources and support they need to sustain excellent services, and advance their organizations to affect poverty. Fran has built CRE into a unique institution that has empowered over 3,600 nonprofit organizations and their leaders to provide a more just, equitable and livable city for all New Yorkers. Her dedication to helping nonprofits that serve the neediest New Yorkers led her to create a third-party payer system which allows potential clients without the ability to pay to have access to CRE’s expertise. CRE’s clients include a wide range of populations, including children, low-income families, the elderly, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and immigrants. The Alliance for Nonprofit Management will award this honor July 15 - 17, 2009 during their annual conference.
