Celebrating 30 With CRE

CRE is celebrating an extraordinary 30 years of serving community based organizations across New York City!  Through our comprehensive consulting and management assistance services, over the past three decades CRE has helped New York City’s nonprofit organizations become stronger and more effective in fighting poverty and advancing social justice.

CRE believes community based organizations are the true engines of social change, and we serve as a catalyst for that change by helping these organizations achieve financial strength, develop high performing staff, attain effective leadership and conduct effective work.  We have unique expertise in serving communities where resources and opportunities are limited, thus much of our management assistance is provided free of charge.  Our 30th Anniversary Gala and associated fundraising campaigns are special opportunities for CRE to raise much-needed funds in order to continue making New York City stronger, one community group at a time.

The cornerstone of our anniversary fundraising efforts is our Fund for the Future campaign.  The Fund for the Future will allow CRE to both continue to work with any client who needs our services as well as engage in our own capacity building.  To date, we have raised over $500,000.00 from generous individuals and foundations committed to helping CRE lay the foundation for our next 30 years of serving community based organizations.  In concert with the Fund for the Future, we’ve received support for our 30th Anniversary Campaign from an array of organizations and individuals, such as our event sponsors, major donors and 80-member Host Committee.

In addition to our focus on the future of our organization, CRE has embraced the larger movement towards a sustainable future by going green with our online Virtual Journal.  Check out ads and well-wishes from many of our supporters.

Our anniversary celebration will culminate with our Gala event on March 16th, at which we will honor our founder and former executive director, Fran Barrett.  As we look to build a strong foundation for the next 30 years under our new leadership, CRE’s ultimate goal remains unchanged: to build a more just, equitable and livable city for all New Yorkers.
